the interview process

Once all documentation has been received, your assessor will begin the interview process.

Guardians:

  • The guardians will each by interviewed a minimum of two times
  • Interviewing is dependent on the information provided, complexity, relationship dynamics and concerns
  • Interviews can occur in person or online

Children:

  • Each child will be interviewed a minimum of two times
  • Children are interviewed in person unless otherwise agreed upon by all parties
  • Each guardian will bring the child or children to one appointment each, at the assessor’s office
  • Guardians will NOT be present for the interview(s).

Other Parties:

  • All individuals residing in each guardian’s home will be interviewed, unless all parties deem it unnecessary
  • This includes stepparents, step-siblings, half siblings, etc.
  • The assessor will visit each guardian’s home(s) during their parenting time
  • The assessor will tour the home and observe the environment and parent/child interaction
  • The family will be asked to carry on with their normal daily routine while the assessor “blends into the background”
  • Each guardian will provide the assessor with a list of collateral contacts or references
  • The assessor will speak to these contacts on the phone or via video. This is to include both personal and professional contacts that can speak to the guardians parenting, relationship with the child, etc.
